Joshua and Jericho

Joshua and Jericho

Joshua obeyed God even when God’s plan sounded unusual.

Jericho

Joshua was leading God's people into the land God had promised them. One city in their way was Jericho. It had strong walls and closed gates.

God gave Joshua a plan. It was not the kind of plan people would usually expect in a battle. God told the people to march around the city once each day for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around it seven times. Then the priests would blow trumpets, and the people would shout.

Joshua listened and obeyed. The people marched just as God said. They trusted God's instructions even though they may not have understood every part of the plan.

On the seventh day, after the final march, the people shouted. Then the walls of Jericho fell down. God gave them the victory.

Joshua's story reminds us that God knows what He is doing. We can trust Him and obey Him, even when we do not see the whole picture.

'Be strong and courageous.' - Joshua 1:9
